How Long Does Sea Freight from China to the Philippines Take?

If you're importing for the first time, this question decides everything else — your pricing, your stock levels, and what you promise your own customers.

What happens during those 15–25 days

Days 1–5 — Consolidation. Your goods sit at our China warehouse (Yiwu, Shishi, or Guangzhou) while we consolidate them with other shipments into a container. This is what makes LCL affordable — you pay for your share of the space, not the whole container.

Days 5–7 — Export clearance and loading. Formal export documentation and loading onto the vessel.

Days 7–18 — Ocean transit. The actual sailing time to Philippine ports.

Days 18–25 — Philippine customs and release. Import clearance, duties and taxes settled, then transfer to our Manila warehouse.

What makes it slower

• Chinese New Year — factories and freight both stop for roughly two weeks. Plan 4–6 weeks of buffer around it.
• Port congestion — affects Manila periodically and is outside any forwarder's control.
• Customs inspection — random, or triggered by documentation mismatches. Accurate declarations are your best protection.
• Incomplete supplier details — the most common self-inflicted delay. Boxes without a client code can't be accepted at all.

When to use air freight instead

If 15–25 days doesn't work, air freight moves the same route in 5–7 days. It costs more per kilogram, but for samples, rush restocks, or high-value low-weight goods the maths often favours air. Minimum is 1 kg.

A practical rule: if the item is small, urgent, or worth far more than the freight cost, fly it. If it's bulky and you planned ahead, ship it.

How to plan your reorder point

• Normal season: reorder when you have ~35 days of stock left.
• Around Chinese New Year: reorder when you have ~70 days left.

That buffer is the difference between a stockout and a smooth quarter.
